Gajge Porter
Title: Craftsman
Joined STRITE design + remodel: 2019
“To be a good craftsman takes attention to detail — to learning the process of each task, and then repeating that process.”
Responsibilities
Gajge typically handles finish work and drywall installation on STRITE remodel projects — duties that make good use of his background as a handyman. As part of a dedicated in-house team of craftsmen, his skills provide a level of consistency and quality that has come to define the STRITE remodel experience.
Background
Gajge has lived in Boise since he was in sixth grade. A graduate of Borah High School, his work as a handyman gradually exposed him to remodel situations — and when a friend told him about an opening at STRITE, he saw it as an opportunity to delve more deeply into the trade. While his current focus is drywall and finish work, his goal is to expand his skill set to include finish carpentry, framing, and even working with reclaimed wood for more customized design touches.
Why My Job Matters
“What it takes to be a good craftsman is attention to detail — to learning the process of each task, and then repeating that process. When you can stand back and see what you’ve accomplished at the end of the day, there’s a feeling of satisfaction in the progress you’ve made…and in knowing that you’ll probably be doing something else tomorrow. What I like about STRITE is the variety that goes with each project.”
When Not Working
“My wife and I are basically homebodies, but that’s because we have a two and a half year old daughter…and we’re in the middle of potty training.”
