Title: General Manager
Joined STRITE design + remodel: 1991
“In residential remodeling, the relationship with the client is the key to success. Everything I do is, in one way or another, geared toward enhancing that relationship.”
Responsibilities
As you might expect from a person with an accounting degree, Brad is able to summarize his responsibilities at Strite with precision. In fact, he only needs three words: overall performance auditing. Behind those words, however, are systems Brad utilizes to make sure the company is doing what it is supposed to, both on a project basis as well as on a more macro level. The fact that Strite has a person with Brad’s background and experience developing and monitoring “The Big Plan” is no small reason that the company has successfully weathered nearly 40 years of business in a volatile industry.
Background
Born in Portland, Oregon, Brad spent much of his youth on a farm in northeastern Montana. Along with farming and ranching, his parents toured towns in the Northwest as part of a country music ensemble. Rather than pursue music, however, Brad decided on accounting as his career path. After graduating from the University of Montana, he expected to land a corporate accounting job, and instead discovered a small remodeling firm in Boise. Brad recalls that during the interview process, owner Jim Strite presented him with a job description that encompassed nearly six pages. Although he had entertained no aspirations to work in the construction industry, the challenge Strite presented was too intriguing for Brad to refuse…and he’s never looked back.
When not working
“I’d be back on the farm in Montana. I’ve found after I left that way of life that it continues to draw me back whenever I return for a visit. I’ve been surprised by that.”
